Tonita M. Helton
Helton Law Offices founder, Tonita Helton, is well-known for her integrity and precision.
Tonita attended Drake University, graduating from University of Iowa Law School in 2001. After graduation, she moved to Chicago and joined the prestigious firm of Freeborn and Peters, LLP, as an associate attorney. There she developed expertise in the area of federal regulatory law, antitrust litigation, and CIFIUS.
After nearly twenty years of legal practice in Chicago, Tonita returned to Iowa and established her own practice in 2013. She continues to practice in her area of expertise, licensed in both Iowa and Illinois. Her extensive experience ranges from representing multinational corporations in complex litigation and regulatory matters to agricultural real estate transactions.
Tonita has grown a practice that excels in its creative approach and accessibility, while also encouraging relationships within the local community.

Terri Leahy
As Helton Law Office’s paralegal, Terri provides exceptional service in the areas of probate, estate planning, and business entity formation. With multiple decades of experience in professional service and management, Terri’s work ethic is unmatched. A dedicated wife and mother of seven children, Terri has also managed the businesses of Hammer Properties, and Leahy’s Lucky 7 Farm for over twelve years, where she handled multiple aspects of the business administration. Terri joined the Helton legal team in 2020, where her focus and attention to detail continue to successfully serve clients.

Cindy Horney
Cindy has served as a business administrator for over twenty years. Before joining the Helton Law Office in 2021, Cindy served as a business manager for health care centers Westview Acres Care Center, South Central Home Health Care, and Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa, where she handled the business administration including payroll, benefits, and Medicare documentation. She joined the Helton team in 2021 as the Office Manager for Helton Law Offices, where she serves a vital role in client relations, organization, and accounting focusing on many areas including real estate.
